Our “San Diego Pale Ale.” Hop-driven from two key hops: citrus and pine from the wonderful and classic American Cascade, paired perfectly with the bright fruit and dankness of Australian Galaxy. With moderate bitterness and just enough malt backbone to elevate the hops, this Pale Ale is super-refreshing.

When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavor and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness. So veg out or venture out. Either way, rip one open and taste this awesome golden nectar!

A solid, well laced off-white head on a copper body. The nose is fresh and pungent, featuring grapefruit and orange zest. Really juicy fresh fruit notes from the hops lead the taste profile. Not as heavy handed as most Stone ales. Tropical fruit including kiwi as well as melons, grapefruit and lemon are supported by sweet bready malt. The mouth feel is slick but not sticky. Fresh, refreshing, clean and crisp.

Canned. Or anguish pour . Ripping up with juicy fruit up front. Not too bitter of a finish. Rather crushable

Can shared at work at a blind tasting. Deeper golden pour, white head. Nose is intense bitterness, oxidized notes, honey and tutti frutti. Taste is heavily bitter, resinous with a honey touch and some candy sweetness. Bitter finish, light to medium body, average carbonation. One dimensional and this dumb bitterness is way too much.

Can from Speciaalbierpakket. Brewed in Berlin. Aroma is malty and mildly hoppy with grapefruit, biscuit and some pine. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Medium bodied. Very classic APA, it's fine but I expected more outspoken hops from Stone.
