Our “San Diego Pale Ale.” Hop-driven from two key hops: citrus and pine from the wonderful and classic American Cascade, paired perfectly with the bright fruit and dankness of Australian Galaxy. With moderate bitterness and just enough malt backbone to elevate the hops, this Pale Ale is super-refreshing.

When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavor and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness. So veg out or venture out. Either way, rip one open and taste this awesome golden nectar!

Burk från SB. Smak och doft av humle, malt, citrus, grapefrukt, örter, hö, mineraler med toner av tall. Lätt kropp och sötma, rund och len, fin beska. Ändå besviken, kanske det sämsta jag druckit av just Stone.

Can from Tesco and drunk at home. Hazy brown russet colour lasting beige head. Some grapefruit on aroma. Some sweetness from the malt. Good in mouth, smooth malts. Light bitterness on the finish but that builds. Pretty good. Drinkable. Hops are there. Decent.

Lett tåkete brunt med høyt tykt beige skum. Lukter trevirke, gjær og moden tropisk frukt. Middels fyldighet. Middels minus sitrus bitterhet og brent karamell.

On tap at Clock Block, Bratislava. Dark amber reaper (sic!) with steady off white head. Aroma has notes of baking yeast on top of tangerines. Tastes medium bitter, tangerines, rather dry finish with long lasting bitterness. Nice.

Can (German version) from Tesco, Watford, Herts. A dark golden/amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, pine aroma. Tastes much the same, hoppy, citrus, pine, rather bitter. It is alright but I'm unlikely to revisit this one. Stones German brewed beers don't come close to their California brewed beers IMO.

0.33l can. Hazy dark golden color with medium stable white head. Aroma: citrus, caramel, malt, light candy. Taste: papaya, mango, blood orange, resin, caramel, bit muddy taste. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderate bitterness. Honestly, I expected more of a juicy hoppy kick.

Can @ home [thanks Joes!]. Clear copper to light amber color, huge sized white to off-white head. Aroma is malts, hops, bitter hops, light orange bitter is what it reminds me off. Taste malts, hops, nice grapefruit touch but again it tends towards the tart-bitter side even though the can says it should have lots of juicy hops. I don't get those. Decent to medium body, decent carbonation. Ok beer.

Can from Asda. Hazy golden body with tiny particles floating beneath a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and cherry tomatoes. Flavour of citrus with a tinny bitterness. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Sharp and hoppy. Good but not particularly memorable.

12 oz can into a Duvel glass on 7th Jan 2018 while at my daughters in California. Clean and clear amber pour, white crown on top. Hop centric, piney resin and citrus esters in the nose. Taste also hop heavy with more of a fruity leaning (citrus like) than the aroma indicates. Decent.
