Our “San Diego Pale Ale.” Hop-driven from two key hops: citrus and pine from the wonderful and classic American Cascade, paired perfectly with the bright fruit and dankness of Australian Galaxy. With moderate bitterness and just enough malt backbone to elevate the hops, this Pale Ale is super-refreshing.

When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavor and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness. So veg out or venture out. Either way, rip one open and taste this awesome golden nectar!

0.33 l can from 'Craftbeer-Shop.com', brewed in Berlin, canned in September 2017. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, quite resiny and moderately fruity aroma of lots of pine, orange jam and some tea leaves. Just slightly sweet, moderately bitter, quite dry, resiny and moderately fruity taste of pine, tea leaves, orange jam and traces of caramel, followed by a short, quite bitter, dry, resiny and slightly herbal finish with a grassy touch. Just medium-bodied, quite dry (almost watery) and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite okay but nothing mind-blowing, not that much flavour and not enough body for my liking.

Keg at White Hart, Waterloo. Vaguest caramel and hops aroma. Dark amber, Opaque. Creamy white head. Sweet citrus followed by a herby bitterness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish. Slips down easily enough but not much character to it.

Schöne Fruchtnoten in der Nase, deutlich Ananas. Im Trunk bitter, malzig, frisch, fast etwas wässrig. Hinten dann nochmal bitter, spät süß. Beim zweiten Schluck fruchtiger, crispy. Gutes Ding für einen warmen Nachmittag.
