Inspired by the Nordic holiday drink gløgg, we bring you Windward & Leeward batch with 17: Lars
Lars began as Eleanor, our oak-aged elderberry farmhouse ale, but morphed into a holiday treat. In a small tank we steeped Eleanor with Zante currants, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, cardamon, clove and bitter orange peel and serve it mixed with a simple syrup derived from date syrup and garnished with an orange slice, currants and almonds.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a near clear red with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of clove, nutmeg and cinnamon with a sour red fruit note underlying. Flavor has more sour red fruit and oak with a backbone of ginger and baking spices.
