Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a fairly dark red almost brown color with a thin finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Some stringy lace.
The aroma had some roasty coffee tones up front and then some cherry sweetness, something like that Michigan black cherry sweetness more or less. Light cherry skin tartness ever so slightly.
The flavor leaned towards the roast initially and then evened into the cherry sweetness. Tartness seemed barely there. Some milk and dark chocolates show up here. Nice proportionate cherries to chocolate to roast in the aftertaste and following through into the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair grip of the roasty components trying to make a decent effort of imbalancing the effects of the sweet smoothness on my tongue. Ends up just showing it’s full authenticity of the cherries. Now that’s a fabulous feel!
Overall, very nicely done porter with those Michigan cherries just showcasing their ability to enliven a great style.

Cask at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma combines cherry and earthy dark grains as well as a bit of roast. Flavor starts with sweet cherries that are joined by roasted malts and earthy dark grains.
