As big as Russia, as lavish as a palace, as complex as court intrigues and as mighty as a Tzar, the Russian Imperial Stout beer style originated as a love statement to Empress Catherine the Great. Seduced by that very style, we brewed this beer with a hefty amount of alcohol and rich chocolate and coffee aromas from dark malts. Truly Imperial!

Bottled@HBF2018. Black colour, brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some spices, wood and some mild ripe fruits and fgigs. Flavour is nutty, some cocoa, liquorice, alcohol, mild nutty notes as well as some syrupy notes.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a teku glass. Colour jet black with an old porto hue around the rim, very thin fizzy beige head, disappearing quickly, no lacing. Aroma roasted malts, cocoa, liquorice, coffee, fortified wine, alcohol, earthy notes. Taste above medium sweet, light bitter notes, malty, dark chocolate, espresso, liquorice, some bay leaf, charcoal notes, fortified wine, soy sauce. Full-bodied, oily texture, flat carbonation, smooth sweetbitter aftertaste, lingering roastines and chocolate, alcohol well-hidden, rich, well-balanced, impressive RIS, excellent stuff.

From a 33 cl bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and a bit of charred wood. Flavors are sweet dark chocolate with some bitter roast. Creamy mouth feel.

Can @ Bi Village Camping, Fazana. Pours black with a creamy brown head, lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate. Flavor is sweet, light bitter, roast malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, Wood. Medium body, average carbonation, sweet and light bitter finish with light warming alcohol. 100719

Bottle from Little beer shop. Black, viscous with brief beige head. Leather, rye bread, liquorice, soy sauce. Long, semi bitter charred finish. Good!

Bottled. Black, beige head. Rich salmiaky licorice aroma. Mid dry with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Licorice, salmiak and dark chocolate. Long bitter finish. Dense, concentrated flavours. Compact. Good.

Trade with Iznogud, through Max, so thanks to you all: pours inky black with a small beige head. Aroma is molasses, dried fruit, licorice, and a hint of booze. Taste is lightly sweet, some dark fruitiness, chocolate I suppose. Booze is well covered. Light notes of hops. A drinkable RIS, but a quality sipper.
