As big as Russia, as lavish as a palace, as complex as court intrigues and as mighty as a Tzar, the Russian Imperial Stout beer style originated as a love statement to Empress Catherine the Great. Seduced by that very style, we brewed this beer with a hefty amount of alcohol and rich chocolate and coffee aromas from dark malts. Truly Imperial!

Bottled. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has roasted malt, alcohol, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle@Jespers - Black pour with a tan ringed head. Roasted and sweet malty with some notes of chocolate and some prominent coffee roast, singed brown sugar, medium to full body, earthy burnt malty notes into the dark malty close.

33 cl bottle. Pours pitch black. Small tn head. Aroma is roasted, dark malty. Light liqourice. Hard roasted malty. Thick malty. Dark roasted. Bitter and hard roasted finish.

0,33 l bottle. Pours almost black with small quite quickly dissipating brown head. Aroma of toasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some caramel and dark fruit. Alcohol is present, but in the background. Taste is medium sweet and quite heavy bitter. Body is full, texture oily and carbonation average. Finish is extra long, roast malt and chocolate flavor remains for quite a while.This one is rich, but not too heavy, nothing really new or unexpected, but well executed. Quite a treat.

Pitch black body, with a small, dense, creamy, coffee colored head.
Aroma of soy sauce, tobacco, liquorice, coffee, bitter chocolate, molasses, subtle dark fruits.
Tastes similar, with some more cocoa powder.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, a bit sweet, dry, with soy sauce, cocoa powder, tobacco, coffee, liquorice, bitter chocolate.
Very nice. Really robust and heavy, with lots of soy sauce like notes. Still very well balanced, not too harsh and with a well hidden ABV. Very solid, old school RIS.

from 0,33l bottle shared by Iznogud, big thanks. black color, small coffee colored head. smells earthy, soy sauce, grassy, peppery, nutty, marzipan. nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes soy sauce, earthy, citric, some chocolate, bit ashy, peppery, some vanilla. finishes light to medium roasty bitter with notes of vanilla, soy sauce and earthy notes. rather nice one, bit heavy on the soy and vanilla notes. 7, 4, 7, 3, 16

12 oz bottle picked up in Old Town Dubrovnik. Recommended by both the staff at Glam Cafe, and apparently the folks on this site as well. Solid imperial here, and again in agreement, a classic Russian Imperial Stout feel to this one. A jet black pour, Tan fizz head. Chocolate heavy aroma, a touch of smoke, a huge roast. Very pleasant flavor, cream body but it doesn't coat. A bitter front, very toasty constant. A great roast it is. A fantastic stout here. Just a really well made product in my opinion. Would absolutely love to try the barrel aged version of this someday.
