The Mastino court was one of the bravest and extreme supporters of the Ghibellines (supporters of the imperial authority). There were a strong friendship and a mutual respect between the Scaligeri family and the emperor’s court. Monaco of Bavaria was already then the most important imperial city: the ancient armies who reached Italy in order to oppose the Guelphs (Papacy’s authority supporters) departed from here. This amber beer with a high malt character and excellent for welding the strongest friendship pacts is dedicated to this splendid city.

On tap @So Good (Rome). Ambrata brillante, limpida, schiuma media bianca. Al naso è molto rustica, crosta di pane, caramello, pollaio. In bocca è dolce all’attacco con finale amarognolo, bilanciata, ottima! Corpo medio, carbonazione medio-leggera. Ottima!

Il gusto al naso ricorda orzo, fruttato e speziato. L'intensità olfattiva è normale e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una discreta resistenza e il bicchiere si contorna di una allacciatura di schiuma. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. La carbonazione è media. La consistenza del liquido è limpida. Le bollicine sono fini. La carbonazione è media. Il colore è ambrato carico. Il corpo è rotondo. Il dolce è medio e l'amaro è medio: non si surclassano. L'intensità gustativa è normale e la persistenza gustativa è sufficiente. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali sono di pronta beva. Il finale è pulito e semplice. Il retrogusto è di media intensità. Il tetto della bocca riferisce di sensazioni di caramello, miele e cereali.

Etwas muffiger Antrunk von dunklem Malz. Geringe Bitterkeit, langweilig. Die Bitterkeit sinkt zum Ende schnell ab, nur das Malz erlebt zum Ende seinen Höhepunkt und steigt an. Okay. 10/7/8/6/9/6

0,33 bottle in Kosovo. Pours semi clear amber-caramel color, medium off white foamy head. Nose: caramel dominates the nose but not an unpleasant blast, dates, dry apricots. Mouth: high carbonation, roasted, peppery after taste. 23/03/2017 again...on tap at So Good. It is a superb amber lager, really. Caramel is silky, charming and balanced. A bit rustic, bread with a prominet and balanced grassy overall. Fantastic!
