Premium Lager Beer

At Carlsberg, the pursuit of better beer is in our DNA. More than 100 years after our founder J.C. Jacobsen mastered the art of brewing great Pilsner, we're still looking for ways to improve our beer. Our perfectly balanced Danish Pilsner is wonderfully crisp and refreshing, with a full flavour and a distinctive hoppy aroma. Skål!

On tap at the Traveller's Cactus in Singapore Airport. Pours pale gold. Sickly syrup, floral, peach, plenty of savoury vegetable stuff and a little acidity. A who's who of flavours I don't like in a beer.

16 oz can poured. Green can, listed at 5%. Celebrating a baseball double header, I decided to enjoy a beer for each home run. Due to the power surge, I need to switch to some lighter beers, like this one. Really surprised I haven’t rated this one yet, or even tried it yet, to my knowledge. A clean, and clear shiny golden pour with a ton of rocky foam head that lasts. Some plastic grains on the nose, and quite a bit of it. Flavor is a watered down plastic grain, grassy hints, and a clean, empty finish to it. Light on flavor. It’s not a tough one to drink, but it’s not quite appealing either. Middle of the pack kind of pils for me. I’d drink this again.

Pint can with exp. date 12/20/17 > pils glass. ABV 5.0% A: Poured hard to a small head that fell in seconds. Rich clear gold color with big bubbles and small lace patches. S: Biscuit and sourdough bread with some floral or grassy hop notes. T: Again, sourdough bread dominates the flavor. Some lingering malt or corn sweetness and just a faint hint of herbal or grassy hops. M: Medium bodied with low to average carbonation. Finish is fairly clean. O: About what you expect from this type beer and better than some I’ve had. Far from great but certainly inoffensive. Boy did I love this stuff 30 years ago.

Can. Relatively strong sweetness with very little balancing bitterness. Lots of syrupy honeyish corny flavour dominate the character of the beer. Meh meh.

From old tasting notes. Clear medium gold color. Thick creamy white head. Clean mild malt aroma. Deliciously mildly crisp malt flavor with hints of cloves and spice. Finishes clean with a touch of dryness.

330ml can bought at my local Prix store.Clear straw-golden body, decent, bubbly white head. Clingy lacing. Mid-sweet pale malty nose. Sweet grainy taste with distant notes of dusty hops. Papery dry endnotes. Soft on the swallow. Just about drinkable. (Shared with djoeye, Tromsø 02.04.2017).
Earlier Rating: 1/21/2010 Total Score: 1.6
500ml can as Carlsberg Hof, 4.2% ABV, Clear, straw-yellow body, rapidly collapsing white head. Weak grassy aroma. Notes of sweet malts with lemony hints in flavour. After a while in the glass, I’m left with little else than sweet, mouth-filling carbonated water. Pretty dry on the swallow. A very neutral partner to our spiced chicken (shared with Frau Eva, Tromsø 17.01.2010).
