Always wanted my first Council Rock beer to be this one because well, you’ll have to read all of the way through to get it at the end. Anyways, this was poured into a stange. Thanks Brian, you made my day with this one.
The appearance was a ruddy dark amber color with a quaint transparency about it. Finger’s worth of white foamy head ran around the glass nicely. Some sticky lace but ends up sliding after awhile.
The aroma encases some sweet to grassy bitter German hops flowing over a nice German yeasty/breadiness. Some earthiness. Malts level things out appropriately.
The flavor is semi-sweet running through some spiciness then earthiness. German yeastiness is there. Nice level earthy to bready aftertaste with a touch of grassiness. Quick dry malty to earthy sort of finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, an altbier that is just how I thought Germans would brew. Well done by Americans, but if you’re wondering what I was going to say: \"what’s up dog?\"

On draft at the brewery. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Malty nose. Flavors of caramel and ash. Somewhat sweet finish.
