Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice copper glow, but a beautiful ruby tint and a thinnish, just off-white head that fades to barely a centimetre after a few seconds. Aroma of deep cinnamon, malts, rich raisins and pitted fruits with some figs and grain, but a lot of alcohol warmth and burn and a pungent sweetness but more spices in the nose - very strong throughout. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong pungent cinnamon flavours dominate with a lot of pitted fruit sweetness and a rich maltiness that doesn't subside and a lot of deep alcohol and warmth, but the spiciness, especially the canella and allspice notes are very strong and overpowering. Aftertaste is deep, robust and very pungent from the spices to the malts and a strong alcohol bite that goes down slightly lower than the 13 per cent, but not much lower. Overall, a very strong robust, and of course, super spicey (not hot, but deep) beer that has a lot of malts and more alcohol than should be here, but at least, with a smaller format and with it drinking as slightly less than thirteen per cent, a decent option once it's got some age to it, but this is still strong throughout from the spices to the alcohol and malts, regardless. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 28-December-2017 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on one of the coldest days here of the season, so far, on 23-January-2021.

12 oz bottle, poured opaque dark copper with no head. Full bodied, low carbonation. Cinnamon apple and booze aroma. Bourbon and cinnamon dominate the taste, with the finish sweet and boozy.

Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours hazy dark copper with a beige head. Cinnamon aroma with a bourbon note. Near full bodied. Flavor is cinnamon, brown sugar, bourbon, cinnamon. Rather flavorful. Almost hides the heat. Very interesting ale.

Sample at Daily Growler UA during the "Collaboration Celebration! Sports & Jorts & More" event on 08/04/2017. Cloudy dark reddish-brown color with a medium thick beige head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Aroma of cinnamon, bourbon, dark fruit and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, cinnamon, dark fruit and caramel malt. The finish is oaky with a cinnamon whiskey aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

12oz bottle, courtesy of markwise, pours with a hazy muddy brown and deep ruby red body that supports a light tan head that has a pinkish hue to it. The aroma belts you in the face with sugar and booze nuanced cinnamon followed by cherry and then light notes of molasses and bourbon. It smells like this may have started out as a cherry cough syrup estery beast where the barrel and cinnamon are added to tone down the massive cherry like esters. The taste begins with sweet cherries and sugar sweetened and booze nuanced bristling cinnamon bigness. To midway its all firm cinnamon still blunted some by the sweetness and cherry candy. Into the finish a modest level of sweet vanilla and bourbon thankfully come to the surface to help break up this mess of a beer. This is nuts.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/7/2017. Pours murky deep ruby red/copper color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cinnamon, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light coconut, herbal, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cinnamon, fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malts, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge cinnamon, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light coconut, herbal, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/cinnamon bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of cinnamon, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light coconut, herbal, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of of cinnamon, fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; a very mild warmth, and zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing spiced English barelywine! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of of cinnamon, fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Just as great as the base beer to me. The cinnamon is definitely pronounced, but hardly overpowering. The whole package is perfectly balanced between yeast, malts, and barrels; with no booziness at all. Kind of tastes like apple pie with the fruitiness of the yeast. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Blue Ridge Bottle Shop. Pours murky reddish brown with a small beige head that disappears by the time I smell it. Aroma is nice: sweet dark fruits, cinnamon cake. Flavor is alcohol-infused cinnamon cake. This is great. Sweet dark fruit, cinnamon cake, light vanilla, light wood, caramels, minor hint of chocolate, whiskey. This, to me, is outstanding. Too bad I didn’t pick up a few.
