Mischief is a hoppy Belgian-style golden strong ale. This wickedly good golden ale is fiendishly dry-hopped with American hops to add a layer of complexity and mystery to its fruity, dry Belgian-style character. Citrus and resin diabolically combine with ripe melon, pear and slight peppery spice in a precariously effervescent mixture. Enjoy it, but you’ll want to keep an eye out.

2017 Mischief reveals a new dry-hopping plan and a brand new label, both of which will change each year, every year. The 2017 edition of Mischief features Citra and Motueka hops, adding fresh citrus and tropical notes to the ripe, fruity character of the crisp, dry and effervescent Belgian-style.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Dorata viva, brillante, un filo torbida, schiuma bianca medio-leggera ma persistente. Al naso note di frutta gialla, pesca, passionfruit, lieviti, leggera speziatura. In bocca è appena dolce all'attacco con finale fruttato leggermente acidulo, passionfruit, leggera ossidazione. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Un po' stantia, ma discreta.

Tap at Luppolo Station in Rome. Clean golden color, white medium-low foam. Nose: almonds milk, esters, dead yeast. Mouth: pretty hoppy with a sweet cookie pastry mouthfeel. Meh

Brilliant white frothy head stayed well on a hazy vivid golden body. Big vinous & fruity aroma with bubble gum, peach & cloves. Medium bodied, sharp & carbonated on the palate with a softer dry clean finish. Yeast, banana, peach, clove, bitter citrus, lemon, sweeter citrus - orange & apricot tastes & a hoppy finish - quite complex! Tastes like an excellent dry Belgian Tripel to me.

Hazy golden coloured body with a thin pure white head that fades fairly fast. Aroma of grassy and very herbal hops with a resinous scent along with some very floral elements with some alcohol and perfume noticeable towards the edges. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy flavour with a big perfume bite from the hops with a larger alcohol profile but nothing too pungent with a dose of bright citrus hops, some grain and an enjoyable dose of lemons and grapefruit towards the end. Aftertaste is deep and robust with much more hops than anything else showing the perfume and grassier side of things, with some very low alpha acid bitterness, but more of the citrus and perfumey characteristics towards the end. Overall, a nicely balance and structured beer that shows much more of a 'Belgian' ale than an IPA or anything hop-centric, but this really should be classified as 'American' strong ale, naturally, given that it's not from Belgium and the yeast isn't the big component here - the hops are and the balance. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 29-April-2018 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington in front of the store on 29-June-2018.

Bottle @ tasting shared by Caesar. Clear yellow golden color, full sized white head. Aroma is malts, sweet, herbs or spices. Taste malts, quite hoppy actually, more than I expected, slightly herbs or spices and a hint of yellow fruits in the background. Solid. I like it!
