While in Bardstown my son and I went to Scout & Scholar for dinner and beers. I found Trappe Door on the menu, fortunate since I like quadrupels. It came in an 8 oz draft served in a chalice glass. The body was almost black continued by a decent head of creamy parchment tan foam. It had a scent of dark dried fruit, yeast and sweetness. With a drink I got dark plums, quite a bit of vanilla, raisins, malt, candi sugar and bread. The sensation was rather full but I found the beer to be more sweet than I like in a quad, the vanilla tended to overwhelm. I would certainly drink one again, no issue with that. I assume the barrels being used in the aging process previously held bourbon since we were in bourbon central.
