HOP IDOL モザイク (HOP IDOL - MOSAIC)
AN AMERICAN IPA BURSTING WITH TROPICAL CHARACTER, FEATURING MOSAIC—ONE OF THE MOST CONSISTENTLY POPULAR AND BELOVED HOPS IN THE IPA WORLD.
[Character]
This single hop IPA features Mosaic, and all its glorious berry, melon, and tropical notes. A blend of East Coast and West Coast styles, this oat heavy American IPA has a soft mouthfeel, crisp finish, and is loaded with Mosaic hop deliciousness.
[Food Pairing]
Smoked tongue, lemon marinated salmon sashimi, "satoimo" and small shrimp croquettes
[Naming]
If IPAs were considered to be a show, there's no denying that the star of it is the hops. Normally it's more like a blend - a band, if you will - of multiple hops performing together. For this series, however, it's a solo artist - a "Hop Idol", if you will, showcasing their individual talents on the big stage. Who would you vote for? The star of this show is Mosaic, bringing all its wonderful tropical character and berry-like notes.

We will never forget when Mosaic hops arrived on the scene. One beer that stood out was Karl Strauss’ Mosaic Session IPA, a phenomenal beer that gave a rich mixed berry character like nothing ever before. Since then, Mosaic has risen greatly in popularity as a staple hop in many IPAs. When we discussed this single hop series, we knew we had to have Mosaic, one of the hops most suited to being showcased as a single hop, be a part of it.
Mosaic has a sweet fruit character that is very soft, and so for this beer we went with a dominantly Maris Otter malt base for its biscuit-like flavours, and on top of that added a hefty amount of oats, along with a little bit of dextrin malt to give the beer some extra body. While the beer’s hops are of course 100% Mosaic, we layered it through 4 different additions, in combination with Cryo versions of the Mosaic for some extra flavour boost, resulting in a soft, creamy, and hazy IPA, loaded with tropical berry and fruit flavour and aromas. This is definitely going to be a hoppy go-to for us this summer!

Can from Fujii Daimaru. Great Mosaic nose: pineapple, guava, orange, dank grasses, passion fruit. Bright and juicy. Hazy pastel yellow with a low head. Dank, fruity, spicy flavor, clean, bready malt. The hops shine. Lots of semi-ripe pineapple, plus grapefruit, passion fruit. Nice crisp body. Not heavy or pasty.
