Yearly, ending in 2017, we brewed Fluxus to celebrate the anniversary of our first beer sold—July, 1995. The name Fluxus is Latin for “continuous change” and in the spirit of change, every year we brew Fluxus with a different recipe.

In 2017, Fluxus was a mixed-fermentation saison-style ale brewed with rhubarb. The combination of Brettanomyces and Saison yeast results in complex fruit aromas reminiscent of apricot, mango, and pineapple. Notes of citrus and biscuit combine to create a slightly sour and slightly sweet flavor that finishes with a hint of dry acidity.

Draft. Hazy to cloudy deep golden color medium white head. Nice aroma of dusty peppery stone fruit and citrus. Taste has overripe stone fruit, tropical fruit, moderate funk. Very tasty.

A lot less interesting than previous entries into this series like XFiles without Mulder. Light grapefruit and orange rind but not a lot else. Hazy orange pour. Light tangy finish. Easy drinking. Tap at Rustico.

At the brewery: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is dunky yeast, something that must be rhubarb given that I do not spend much time smelling it, fruitiness, dough. Taste is excellent. Light notes of rhubarb, some light fruit, great yeast. Funky but still mellow. Very soft and subtle. Excellent.
