Cask at the Punch Bowl, West Hallam, Derbyshire. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is big malt hop, light citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth malt hop woody bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. A superb pint and very well kept.

Cask at a visit back to Preston. Dark brown pour, big white head. Overwhelming aromas of banana, and not in a nice-weiss-beer way. Some toffee. Bit odd. Tastes sweet. Possibly not well kept, so switched to the Wainwright. My cousin had four of these, and was apparently sick in the car on the way home. might re-rate in future just to be sure.

Cask @ Secklow Hundred, Milton Keynes. Appearance: a shade lighter than chestnut brown. Big, big, big head (lively barrel)! Aroma of soft malt and fruit mixed with a pleasantly balanced astringency. The taste is nice - a malty sweetness with some bitterness at the end. This is a commendable old-fashioned extra bitter. Nothing too original, but a dependable pint.

Cask at the Plockton Inn, Plockton, 19/10/13. Clear copper golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is bready malt, light fruit, a little thin. Taste comprises bready malt, hint of orange, light fruit notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, light bitter notes in the fnish. Good feel to this one but lacks a little in flavour. So so bitter.
