We discovered that there is an old and local kriek in Groningen. The Westerleesche Kriek is an ancient cherry, tiny and really sour, grown at farms for the use in syrop and jam. We handpicked the krieken near Westerlee and macerated it in lambic by Vandenbroek, blended before bottling with 3-4 year old lambic.
