För drygt tio år sedan träffades Jessica Heidrich och Menno Olivier, bryggmästare på det nystartade Brouwerij De Molen i holländska Bodegraven och stort öltycke uppstod. I januari i år fick de äntligen möjlighet till en sambryggning. De Molen är kanske mest känd för sina kraftfulla Imperial Stouts och Barley Wines, men bryggarna längtade till vår, grönska och solsken. Resultatet blev att kombinera den idag så heta humlesorten Citra med en ölvärldens äldsta öltyper och mest egensinniga jäst, French Saison.

Doft och smak:

Ett rejält piggt citrusfriskt, rejält torrhumlat öl med elegant kryddigt fruktighet från jästen med mycket mogen citron i både doft och smak av Citrahumlen. Knastertorr, men ändock balanserad, med en citrusaktig eftersmak. Krispigt citrusaktig beska med inslag av mango, gula äpplen och passionsfrukt.

Bottle at home. Aroma is citrus, lemon peel, peppery yeast, light grainy malt, hoppy notes. Flavour is lightly sweet and moderate to medium bitter with a dry finish. Body is medium. Nicely hopped and citrussy Saison, very enjoyable.

(Bottle) Golden colour, slightly hazy, with frothy white head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of white bread, hay, lemon, pineapple, passion-fruit and coriander. Fruity, spicy taste with white bread, lemon, passion-fruit, pineapple, clove, spicy yeast and a mild citric bitterness. Medium body, dry. Clean and fresh, bringing on both good saison flavours and citra flavours. Very nice.

Bottle. Pale blonde. Citrus and earthy grassy notes in the aroma. Thinnish. Citric floral hopbitter flavor. Dry. Hint of white pepper. Fruity. Nice enough.

Bottle. Foggy, yellow-golden color. Aroma: citrus, fruit and floral notes, light spice of yeast, pear, apple, a little gooseberry. Taste: spicy, passion fruit, gooseberries and grapefruit, zest, coriander, bitterness.

Bottle, 330 ml from Pivoteka. Courtesy of and shared with JFK10000. Pours light golden with huge white head. Great sound as head is coming down. Nice spicy citrus aroma. Yeasty, very light, bit malty. High carbonation. Light bodied.

Helder lichtgeel bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig en fris fruitig met iets van citrus en sinaasappel. Zit in een bijzonder leuke fles.

Draught @ [ Malmö Öl & Whisky Festival 2016 ] @ Malmömässan, Mässgatan 6, Malmö, Sweden 21532. [ As S:t Eriks / De Molen Citra Saison ].Light unclear light to medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, wheat, citrus, moderate to heavy yeast, saison yeast. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, minerals, citrus, saison yeast, wheat - grain. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Pale yellow, hazy, tall airy head. Low retention. Nice hoppy aroma with spicy yeast giving more complexity. Light body. Dry hoppy flavour. Citrus light to medium bitterness. Fine yeast accompany the composition. Good.

Unclear, yellow colored, overfoaming white soapy head, not very lasting. Aroma is fruity, citrus, lemony, spicy with some yeast. Taste is medium sweet malt, wheat, nicely spicy, peppery, fruity, quite lemony, medium bitterness, dry finish, spicy yeast, lasting lemony-spicy bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, bit watery. Nicely done, like the mix very much! (bottle, Pivoteka Zagreb)
