330ml can from Coco Valley, Langkawi, Malaysia. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is roasty, light caramel. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a somewhat light, watery, roasty, light grassy, dry hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. The thing is that I’m drinking this on Langkawi, the tax free island and if I’m honest, this stout is not as good as the special 6.8% mass produced Royal Stout that they sell here. I can buy NINE cans of the Royal Stout for what I paid for this beer, which means I won’t be buying another. If you are going to compete directly with the big boys then you had better make sure your product is better! This stout is fine, but it’s nine times the price of its local competitor and it’s not as good, so who will buy it other than a ticker like me?
