Barley Wine
Fine Dandy Jolly Golly
An American Barley Wine for all your beery needs. Bold and balanced. That’s Big Ol’. Ode!
Remember way back when, like not too way back when, but ten, fifteen years ago "back when," when it seemed like every American brewery had a big banger of a bitter-bite beer, usually a barley wine style, called something with Old? You had your Old Ruffian, your Old Foghorn, your Old Numbskull. Your Bigfoot… which did not have the word Old in it, but it was, and is, true to style. And Bigfoot, eh, that guy's gotta be old?
This beer is an ode to all those beers. Those malty hop-tangs that sit somewhere between a sports-watching drink and a fireplace sipper. Balanced on the pallet but with enough bitter bite to make you go: Oh! I'd fancy another mouthful of that.
We took what we knew about making neo-old-school American beers and made a big ol' barley wine. It's full of all your classic barley wine-style hops and Citra. Adorable stuff and a beer style that got so many people interested in beer here in Sweden in the '00s — you know, way back when. More is more and all that. Big!

(Keg at Juova, 20250905) Thee beer poured deep amber and cloudy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, raisin, stone fruits and toffee. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were resin, malts, toffee, ripe fruits, spicy notes and bitterness. Aftertaste had resin, malts and bitterness. A tasty and balanced malty brew. Good drinkability.

CBHWS2025. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is toffee, some dried fruits, mild wood and a bit alcohol tones with a bunch of resin and some floral tones. Flavour is similar to the aroma, but has a very big firm bitter kick to it. Hell yeah!
