In The Darkness Bind Them is named to reflect the complexity of flavors present in this 9% Imperial Milk Stout. We bound together cocao, coffee, and lactose in the darkness of this tasty full bodied stout. Using cocao husks in the mash tun, and cocao nibs throughout the process - including two weeks of aging - chocolate flavors are abound. We then blended Speedwell Coffee’s Brazil Roast cold brew into the finished beer to add an enjoyable coffee profile.
This beer is all about layers of flavor. Initially, fudge brownies and dark chocolate roll over the pallet followed by gentle coffee notes with hints of almond and cherry, finished with a slight sweetness from lactose (milk sugar).

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with a finger and a half's worth of khaki foamy head which fell off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: deep dark chocolate and milk chocolate malts with roasted nuts, sweet coffee, roasted coffee, sweet cream and a touch of lactose
Flavor: wraps up the prior noted aromas to a gentle sweetness with a nice roasty noted undertone; finishes leaning towards the sweet side with a touch of dryness from some of the roast
Texture: medium to full bodied, this is a sipper; wonderful smoothness rolling over the tongue with the appropriate note of creaminess right at the end of it
Overall: this is how you do, Mayflower! Boom!

Pours a near black from a can, not much head to speak of, but what's there is a dark tan. Rich roasted aroma, chocolate is present along with a faint nuttiness, coffee as well. Flavor is a semisweet chocolate, toffee notes, finishes slightly more bitter and with coffee notes. Pretty good beer.
