4/III/24 - bottle @ De Vrolijke Viking (Gent), BB: n/a (2024-148)
Ruby red mead, no head. Aroma: lots and lots of diacetyl, very bitter, cherry flavoured chewing gum. MF: no carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet sugary start, lots of cherries, cherry flavoured candy, very buttery, lots of diacetyl. Aftertaste: sugary and sweet, sticky, a little sourish, more diacetyl, I don’t like diacetyl, so I don’t like this mead. Also: this is the first time I’ve ever encountered diacetyl in mead...

Hot version. Really hits the spot on this -1 degree day. Funny how busy the Christmas market is at 2:30 on a Tuesday. Germany! This mead has the perfect amount of cherry. 😋
