L’Ultima Luna is aged in Amarone barrels, filled only for 2/3 of their volume to favor the oxidation of beer with air (a tribute to the oxidized wines of Andalusia). The beer ages at least 24 months, up to 48 months. For the 11th years of the Brewery a special edition of 60 months has been produced. What fascinates in this beer is the exceptional complexity of tertiary aromas due to oxidation (leather, Madeira, dried fruit, cocoa, wood, toasted almond).

From bottle @ Borefts 2012. Dark brown color. Vinous aroma (Barbera wine?) Malty sweet flavor, full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Glorious vinous notes in the flavor. Very well balanced. Great beer.

Bottle (as Riserva 2013, 24 mesi in botti di Amarone). Pours dark brown. Aroma is very sweet, bread, malt, booze. Flavor is sour, sweet, bitter, oak, bread, malt. Finish is malty and boozy. Overall: ok, feels like too much time in barrel.

On tap @Open Baladin (Rome). Ramata intensa, scura, con riflessi rossicci, schiuma assente. Al naso alcol, solvente, vaniglia, frutta rossa sotto spirito. In bocca è molto spigolosa, etilica, vinosa, dolce, poco equilibrata, manca di identità e spessore. Corpo pieno, carbonazione soft. Pessima.

On tap at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Pours amberish brown with small off-white head. Malty, caramel, dried fruit, some wooden notes, plums, raisins. Quite sweet, sticky, warming. Not that easy to drink. Medium to full bodied.

Tap at Open Baladin in Rome-Italy, with Mortlach and daniele. Tobacco leaf color quite dark, no foam. Nose: alcohol, sweet notes (extra sweet) of molasses mixed with alcohol. Not very nice imho. Mouth: tart, woody notes, a chili nice finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Semmi hab, vörösbe hajló sötétbarna szín. Rendkívül intenzív, vörösboros, aszalt szilvás, csokis illatok, komoly hordós vonással. Vörösboros, feketecsokis, aszalt szilvás ízvilág, enyhe kakaóporos beütéssel, leheletnyi alkohollal. Testes, enyhén szénsavas, alig keserű. Isteni.
