Dominus Double is a refreshing abbey beer with a long-lasting flavour, leaving a well-balanced bitter aftertaste with a spicy touch. Roasted and quite hoppy, the aromas develop elegantly with hints of old, slightly dry wood. It has a crystalline colour, dark red with caramel highlights. The head is thick and creamy.
Dominus Double is ideal for accompanying smoked game or moist dark chocolate desserts.

Seriously aged sample Good thick, pale cream head over near-black beer with deep-red reflections. Nuts, hazel- and walnuts, old portwine, sweet, dark raisins. Slight bitterish edge round sweet, very port-like beer. Palate has agreable oxydiation with melanoidins. As to the body, here the portwine-image, as well as the comparison to La Trappe dubbel fails: way too thin, nearly watery. Very decently aged beer with very good balance - younger samples less outstanding. The beer being filtered, however, makes it more prone to oxydation.

Had this on several occasions as it is quite popular in Greece and always thought it was an alias of LA Trappe as previously stated. a very nice dubbel, very similar to La Trappe. Sweet malts, caramel and ripe fruit.Westmalle Dubbel is still my nr.1 in Dubbels though.
