Alaskan Raspberry Wheat is an American-style Wheat Ale that highlights the bright flavors and inviting aroma of more than 3,000 pounds of real raspberries added during fermentation.
Years of local demand through Alaskan’s Rough Draft program of draft-only releases and a Silver medal from the 2008 Great American Beer Festival make Alaskan Raspberry Wheat the perfect brew to launch the Alaskan Pilot Series.

The beer pours a dusky reddish amber, like raspberry jam mixed into a beer. It has a slowly dissipating, fizzy, off-white head. Great label art with a bear hiding in a berry bush. The aroma is dominated by big juicy raspberries. There are some mild beer-ish notes and a bit of wheat spice, but it’s mostly raspberry jam/sorbet. The flavor is moderately sweet with a refreshing mildly sour raspberry tang. This is no cloyingly sweet fruit syrup beer, nor does it taste like artificial or canned fruit. The raspberries are juicy, but the fruit flavor is mostly dry. It’s a shame that the underlying beer doesn’t contribute more, but it also doesn’t get it in the way or throw things off. There are malt notes and possibly even a touch of hops in the finish, but the beer is just a backdrop for the fruit.
