This beer was brewed in memory of the liberation of Essen 80 years ago. It is dedicated to all those who fought for our freedom. The name Maple Bear refers to the brave men of the Canadian 4th Armoured and 2nd Infantry Divisions and the English 49th Infantry Division, nicknamed "The Polar Bears". This Tripel beer is full-bodied and smooth with a dry finish. The addition of maple syrup provides a distinctive hint.

Troebel donkergeel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet en fruitig met iets van ananas, wat gras, citrus en een vleug koriander. Een heel goede tripel.

Very good white head, slowly receding over clear golden beer, lively carbonated. Very neutral nose. Bit herbal/weeds as melisse, lemonbalm, verbena, marigolds. Dry flavour with completely fermented white candi sugar, watercolour paint. Very attenuated, highly carbonated; very slick and medium bodied. Ticks most of the tripel boxes, but still isn't a patch on the Westmalle. And as to the maple syrup, I'm still searching. Txs to Stef!

A nice dry Tripel but I don't get any maple. I think the Tripel yeast ate it all.
