Piwo Grodziskie is a traditional beer specialty from Poland. This historic beer style owes its name to the town of Grätz or Grodzisk Wielkopolski, which is located southwest of Poznan. The palatable, top-fermented beer was already brewed and enjoyed here in the Middle Ages.
Grodziskie celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2025. To mark this anniversary, there is now also a Schlenkerla interpretation of this Polish beer classic: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier in the Grätzer style. We dry wheat smoked malt in our own malt house over an open fire made of oak wood. We use Polish aroma hops from Lubelski for the herbal, aromatic hop note. The result is a top-fermented, drinkable beer with a light smoky aroma, a herbal hop note, fine-pearled carbonation and a very moderate alcohol content.

opalescent golden colour, large, dense and quite long laston white head; aroma of smokey-bacony, yeasty, some cheesy and malty notes; taste is the same with some bread crusty and slight salty notes; ok one, but for sure not among the bast beers of the brewery...actually, a bit disappointing...

Sampled from the tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a sweet smoke with a bit of wood and biscuit supporting. Flavor is much lighter with smooth smoke, sweet grains and a good amount of biscuit.

11/XI/25 - 50cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: II/2026, LHK (2025-1267)
Slightly cloudy light yellow beer, creamy dense white head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very very smoky, not much else going on here. A little malty, hay, cow fodder, very rural character. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: a bit watery, good bitterness, smoky, dry, ashes, a bit grassy. Aftertaste: pleasant smoky finish, grains, hay, a bit watery, dry and bitter finish, nice one! Not really acidic though.

Bottle from the brewery.
Hazy light golden color, with a thick and very stable head. Aroma is smoked malt, and some herbal notes. Taste is smokey, mineral, with a nice bitterness too. Pretty complex for such a light beer. Medium carbonation, nice beer.

Leicht eingetrübt goldene Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Rauchiger, malziger, hopfiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, rauchig, hopfig mit Citrus. Mittlere Süße mit mittlerer Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Bottle at home picked up from HOTM. A mostly clear golden orange coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is nice big smoked malts, tart lemon, birch smoke, wax jacket. Flavour is composed of flaked grains, wheat, light tart, lemon pinch, mineral, drying chalky finish, birch smoke, .Palate is dry and tart, powdery carbonation. Uber dry in the finish. Interesting, but not my favourite style.
