Schell’s Firebrick, a refreshing Vienna-style amber lager, is named after the bricks that line the old boilers. It has a hint of hops combined with a subtly maltiness that creates a mild, pleasantly drinkable beer.

Bottle thanks to Ben! Pours a clear light amber with a grayish tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of bread and biscuit with a bit of sweetness. Flavor is also bread and biscuit forward with some earthy grain underlying.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear light amber with minimal head. Aroma of corn and grains with minimal malt. Taste is light sweet. Caramel, cotton candy and corn. Light bodied with a slightly slick texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. Enjoyable but nothing to seek out.

Bottle in hotel room, picked up at a Hy-Vee in Lincoln, NE. Dark copper orange appearance with an off white head. Fairly toasty, caramel, a bit nutty, husky malty, a bit grassy aroma. Toasty caramel malty, grainy, a bit fruity, sweet malty flavor. Easy to drink.

Bottle: Clear copper pour with a thin ring of beige head. Pretty mild aroma of lager malt. Sweet and a little grassey. Tastes malty, faint grass.. not much else. Pretty mild. Went well with spicey noodles.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a large foamy beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was faintly tart with a note of cherries. The flavor was caramel, nut and sweet malts with light notes of cherry and berry. The finish was long and tangy with notes of nut and berry lingering. Medium body. Decent.

Not as impressive as the hopfenmalz I just tried, but a tasty vienna none-the-less - very malt-forward, with rich vienna malt showcased quite well, as all other qualities take a back seat - bread but clean, with a medium toasty, roasted character - the tiniest bit of acidity way in the back - malt lingers far into the finish, but subdued hop character adds a light crispness to the finish - balanced and tasty - viennas get no love.
