On draft at the Mad Fox Barley Wine Festival, Falls Church VA. 2011 vintage. Pours a hazy cola brown with a tan head. Much darker pour than most barley wines. Some toasted malt in the nose. An unexpected melange of apple cider, coffee, and sweet dark fruits. Alcohol strongly present in the finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly red-tinged amber with some fine particles and an off-white head. Overripe fruit aroma, toffee, banana, caramel. Flavor is quite intense, ripe to overripe dark fruit, strong butterscotch, sweet cereal, oak, spices like cloves; definite bourbony alcohol flavor. Very intense and very, very tasty. Great stuff.

On tap at the Sugar Maple Barleywine fest. Pours a hazy brown with an amber hue and an earthy brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of toffee and sweet grain with backing vanilla and bourbon. Flavor has earthy grain and bread up front that becomes sweet with vanilla, bourbon and a hint of dark fruit.
