South Pacific Pale Ale
Kipling was the first UK beer to use the exquisite Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. We brew this as a SMASH (Single Malt and Single Hop) using the heritage Maris Otter as a base malt which works to allow the complex flavour of this hop to really shine through. There is a grassy, grapefruit character on the nose, followed by passionfruit and mango. It finishes with a balanced and thirst-quenching bitterness.

(Cask at The Rake, Borough, London, 8 Aug 2008) Pale amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, mainly grapefruit. Fruity, hoppy, grassy taste with citrus and a generous grapefruity bitterness in a long finish. Great hop character. Lovely beer!

Cask ( The Rake,London) - Hazy golden in colour. Passion fruit and peach aroma which is very floral. Bitter,hoppy and fresh taste with passion fruit lingering in the finish. Excellent.

Bottle from Utobeer. Pale gold in colour with a slight white head. Aroma of elderflowers, pineapple, gooseberries and citrus. Flavour had a touch of creamy malt, but was tropical hops in the main with a short, dry finish. Very enjoyable.

Half pint, gravity at London Drinker BF 08. A strong bitter ale with a clear light golden body. Ring of bubbles at the surface. Weak hoppy aroma with hop resin in flavour and smooth bitter afternotes. A bit out of tune (evening session, 13.03.2008).

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Fruity malty aroma with fresh hoppy hints. Sweet malty fruity hoppy flavor with lots of citrus and kiwi fruit. Fruity grassy hoppy finish. Really nice one.

[i] Bottle tried this at National Winter Beer Festival, Manchester 2008, with Mes, Reakt, Nick etc having been given this when I popped into Thornbridge Hall Brewery on way up, many thanks to Stacey Webster from Thornbridge Hall[/i] Poured a wonderful golden colour with thin white head, excellent clarity, aroma is seriously hoppy and floral with some lovely summery soft fruits thrown into the mix as well. Lovely hoppy fruity tasting beer, seriously full on taste great bitterness that just carries on for some considerable time, but the taste (despite only getting to try a small amount) also had plenty of exotic fruits as well, loved this.

Bottle at Toms Ultimate Glasgow Tasting: Poured a clear amber with a white head. Aroma is hoppy with some grassy hints. Taste is bitter with hops.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2007. Beer of the festival for me. Gold colour with lasting white head. Lovely, lovely aroma, fruits are limes, grapefruit, kiwi fruit, gooseberry, like a New World Sauvignon Blanc. Stunning in mouth. Awesome. The amount of fruity hop, great condtion, fresh, not flabby or astringent. Just fantastic flavour.
