28th June 1914 Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire’s throne was assassinated by Gavrillo Princip a Serbian nationalist terrorist. 1 Month later the world was at war. The Balance of Power had collapsed and Kitchener’s famous recruitment poster started calling young men to their fate. We commemorate this with a Tommy’s favourite a traditional brown Ale. Cask. Pours very dark brown, ruby tinges, a small foamy head. Aromas of malts, raisin, brown bread. Taste is very bitter, quite a thin mouthfeel, hops, chocolate hints, raisin, quite a long bitter finish. Pretty good.
