Franschhoek Amber Harvest Ale

Soul Barrel's annual Harvest Ale is a beer that reflects the season and local agriculture.

Beer at heart is a product of the land, and at its best reflects time, place and personality. Late harvest Sauvignon Blanc grapes and raisins from Franschhoek highlight Soul Barrel's surrounding wine culture.

They also floor malted a small batch of rye in one of their old giant wine tanks and grew their own hops for this beer! Finally, they included a roasted pumpkin from Babylonstoren, incorporating an American brewing tradition in a local way. By growing and processing the raw materials themselves, they build a deep connection with the ingredients, creating a unique beer that represents their terroir.
