When you’ve got the blues, rely on the Moose. Forget your cares thanks to its aroma of dried fruit and dark chocolate. When you are still feeling blue – dabadee, dabadoo – just take a great sip of this dark tasting beer. The taste reveals smoked malt and caramel. Adding Canadian maple syrup gives a more complexe sensation in the mouth. Slowly enjoy this intriguing beer, so that it can give away all its secrets one by one and you can discover a different kind of blues.

Dark red, slightly hazy. Low sized off-white head has scarce persistence and lacing. Quite subdued aroma shows a caramel and sugary base with red fruit notes (expecially cherry). Taste is more intense, but not too deep or well balanced. Strong sweetness with caramel and brown sugar, no bitterness to bring balance, a slight hint of sourness shows cherry notes. Medium bodied with average carbonation in a semi-soft mouthfeel. The beer feels overall quite empty and not very well integrated. Disappointing.

At Het Pand, Ghent. Pours hazy brown/red with a small, off-white head. The aroma contains (light) roasted malt, nuts, (burned) caramel, chocolate, hpos, some spices and dark/dry fruits. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light to medium hoppy/spicy bitter; shortish, dry finish. Medium body, slick to watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Reminded me a bit of the brown Ales in the USA - also because of the rather thin palate.

Flesje meegebracht van vakantie. Diep donkerbruin bier met beige schuim dat snel weg trekt. Weinig aroma, ietsje karamel.
