On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Ambrata carica, schiuma bianco-sporco medio-leggera. Al naso sentori di malto, biscotti al burro, erbaceo leggero, sgraziata. In bocca è totalmente inconsistente e anche un po' sbilanciata, amaro fiacco e nessuna traccia del lavoro dei lieviti. Corpo leggero rispetto alle attese, carbonazione soft. Molto modesta.

Dark brown color, not much of head. Raisins, plum, yeast in the nose. Medium-bodied. Sweetish plummy and raisiny, some yeastyness leading to slightly bitter finish. Quite typical Belgian dubbel. No big faults but not very interesting.

F: not big, off-white, quick gone to thin film. C: dark brown, hazy, opaque. A: malt, dark fruits, molasses, brown sugar, candy sugar, yeast. T: malt, dark fruits, caramel, star anise, candy, red apples, medium body, medium carbonation, too sweet and nothing very special but not really bad anyway, 0,33l bottle from Prik & Tik ABC Drinks in Leuven.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Beergium. Pours clear russet with a foamy tan head. Nicely toasted bread in the nose, touches of caramel and toffee, phenolics, Belgian yeast, ripening berries. Medium sweet flavour with sugary bread, caramelised sugars, more berries, raisins, figs, more yeasty character. Medium bodied, lightly oily, with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with more toasted sugars, ripening berries, faint leathery notes, bread, toffee, dates. Perhaps a bit simplistic, but tasty and quite drinkable.

330ml bottle from Chez Marie, Ieper. Pours deep amber, off-white head. Nice sweet caramel and pear aroma. Taste smooth, sweet dried fruits.. not sure if that is coming through the yeast. Light spice, caramel, hints of green apple. Smooth. Ok.

Donker bruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is krachtig, licht zoet en kruidig met iets van anijs, bosbessen en karamel. Zachte afdronk.
