On tap at Craft Brewed, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is a bit muffled, with earthy notes and light roast. Flavour is along the same lines, with earthy roasted malt, booze and chalk. I'm surprised at the high ratings for this - this isn't showcasing all that well for me. Earthy and chalky body. It's okay.

Sample at the taproom. Brown-black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of oak, malt and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, oak, coffee and chocolate. The finish is roasty and oaky with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle - pours dark brown - nose/taste of brandy, cardboard, black licorice, toasty chocolate - medium body. Overcarbed.
