A juicy full-bodied pale ale using fresh Australian hops Ella & Galaxy.
Named in honour of the old Capstan Bar of Ann Street, Belfast and the Australian links of the building’s former occupant.
In the 1840s, young Belfast journalist Charles Gavan Duffy was the brains behind the politically explosive newspaper ‘The Vindicator’ from his offices at 10 Ann Street. His controversial topics led him into conflict, resulting in 4 arrests and narrowly escaping the death penalty. Duffy later emigrated to Australia where he prospered and went on to be knighted.
His former office in Belfast became The Capstan Bar around 1905.
