Proper is a nod to tradition — a smooth, sessionable stout brewed with a blend of English and German malts for deep layers of coffee, dark chocolate, and smooth biscuit character. Lightly hopped with East Kent Goldings and Magnum, it keeps the bitterness in check while letting the roasted malt shine.

Aromas of coffee, chocolate and toast. The toast is very strong in the mouth, with some citrus notes and coffee dominating the chocolate. It has a smooth mouthfeel, with only that toasty, coffee aftertaste perhaps slightly stronger than I'd like but it's a small criticism.
