Wanting to pay homage to those starry eyed, bushy tailed youngsters, we’ve set our sights on the humble California Common – for many of us here at the brewery the style that caused the flip into the slippery slope of craft beer.
Horizon Highway takes a trip along the Pacific Highway with the top down – a spritzy copper coloured beer perfect for supping in the sun, with light but noticeable hop character thanks to our heavy addition of OG titans Amarillo and Centennial in the whirlpool, before a light sprinkling of new school favourites Ella and Strata on the cold side.

440ml can. Opalescent, amber colour with average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Minimally toasty, malty and slightly piney, minimally floral, hoppy aroma, a touch of toffee, peanut. Taste is slightly toasty malty and piney, minimally citrusy fruity and floral hoppy, hints of peanut, a weak touch of toasted nuts, toffee.
Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Clean, rather simple - OK.

Can from Beerdome. Bit resinous with toasted malt, caramel, resinous hop, orange. Pretty bitter with a mild sweetness. As intended, takes me back to when I had my first US beers from the likes of Anchor, Flying Dog and Sierra Nevada.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Toffee malt, red apple & glacé cherries in the nose. Taste is very similar. Quite sweet with an assertively bitter edge.
