Milk & Cookies Stout transports us to our childhood kitchens where freshly baked cinnamon-raisin cookies warmed us against winter nights and familiar grandparent voices permeate the sounds of the night. Hints of cold milk, sweet vanilla, and hearty oatmeal overwhelm and remind us that our memories are forever lead by our senses. In this case, we are led home.

12oz can - friend brought from Asheville. Pretty darn nice - milder than most Imperial Stout - tasted good.

Day after Christmas, its been a beer heavy month despite my plans to not drink at all, people keep giving me new beers to try! Is that some sort of 1st world alcoholic problem? Whatever, today is my mom's 72nd birthday, and she used to give me milk and cookies, I suppose. Nose hints at spice but indistinct, like roasted notes, with a hint of cocoa. Flavor seems dry roasted with a distinct cinnamon/nutmeg background. Seems almost semi-dry in profile. Tastes a lot more like a spiced beer than a cookie in beer form, and in a sense, there is both good and bad to that. The good is that the pastry stouts that actually taste like the thing they mimic, instead of beer, are hard to drink beyond the first few sips. The bad is that I don't like spiced beers. Its not really hitting the mark as a pastry stout but then I wouldn't care about that anyway. So now what? This is the lesser of 2 evils? It actually at least has a modest body and semi-dry profile that balances out the spice and makes this quite drinkable. Toward the end of the glass, a slight licorice note comes in, which I also don't love.

Svart med tätt skum. Kanel dominerar smaken, lite russin i bakgrunden. Ganska söt. Kanel i öl funkar inte för mig.

Can (6/29/20) pour from Guilty Pleasures pack from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is opaque black (dark brown at the bottom of the glass) with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, 1/2-finger width light brown foamy head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong raisin cinnamon cookies over roasted malt backbone. Taste follows aroma. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation with late lively stinging kick, and finish as taste. Overall, this nails raisin cinnamon cookies but it's hard to find the stout underneath it.
