Merriment is a hallmark of the holiday season, seasoning our greetings and our gathering. Feest Noel is merriment in a glass- a spiced Christmas ale meant to evoke joy and mystery. This Belgian-style strong dark uses dark roasted malts, imported Belgian dark candy sugar, and spiced accents of cardamom, allspice and cloves.

Draft at Brick Store Pub. Ruby pour and lovely plump head. Nose is spice and dark fruits. Tastes of dark cherry, all spice, cardamom, fig and malty with some brandy to finish. Smooth and spicy. A nice Christmas brew

Bottle (courtesy of Cybercat). Orange, clove, allspice, cardamom, toffee malt, and hay aroma - smells like Gluehwein/mulled wine. Dark brown with small head. Moderately sweet orange, clove, allspice, toffee malt, and moderately bitter orange peel/hay flavor. Nice body and balance. Very nice - a nice combination of a quad and a spiced Christmas wine.

Sample at the Porter. Pours black, with a thick, tan head. The nose is caramelized sugar, ginger, allspice, light coffee, milk chocolate, and figs. The malt base is lovely, and the spicing is subtle and blends nicely. Very sweet flavor, with a pretty good, very subdued, balancing bitterness. Very heavy body. Thick, creamy, with a little lively, sharp finish. Overall, this is an excellent quad; great complexity and depth; sweet, but not cloying; and surprisingly approachable.
