These are / will be beers matured on new Bulgarian oak barrels.
This type of wood has characteristics of both American oak and French oak; beautiful vanilla keys paired with spicy oak keys.
Through maturing these beers for six months in these casks, they get incredibly beautiful wood / vanilla flavors.
The practice will learn us which beers will eventually come in the ‘pure oak series’; We already know that above all blond beers come into their own with this kind of barrel aging.

330mL bottle, pours a hazy bright amber with a monstrous white head with very long retention. Aroma is full of oak, candi sugar, light esters, and some champagne-like effervescence. Flavour is much the same, with loads of woody oak, huge champagne-like effervescence, Belgian yeast-induced esters, rather pronounced candi sugar, and a sort of caramelized pineapple. Carbonation is huge but fitting for the style, seeming to subdue some of the sugars. The oak is nicely situated, but I can do with less sweetness. Very good.

Hoppy, boozy, strong. Malts, belgian yeast, even a bit sour, sweet but finishes dry. Quite a nice tripel.

#10.000! Op de mobiele versie dan toch. 33cl Fles. Diep goudgele kleur, iets troebel, dikke gebroken-witte Orval-kraag. Aroma is zoet, vanille, hout, appel, appelmoes, cakebeslag. Smaak is licht zuur, hout, vanille, appels, wat abrikoos, mout, hout-bittere finish. Romig mondgevoel, medium tot volle body. Lekker.

Bottle. Deep golden color. Grainy aroma with oak, tropical fruit and a hint of whisky. Malty sweet oaky flavor with cherry sweets, hints of whisky. The wood adds some depth to this already Likeable beer.

At Brugs Bierfestival, 4 February 2018. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!
Hazy orange with a lasting, foamy, off-white head that leaves lacing. Aroma of pineapple, mango, orange & mandarin, fruity hops, citrus. Tastes medium fruity sweet and light to medium hoppy bitter; woody/hoppy finish & warming (fruit liqueur) alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Great Abbey Tripel, couldn't go wrong from Dochter v. d. Korenaar.

Bottle. Etre Gourmet. Opens with barely a sound. Pours a fairly dirty, burnished gold. Film of white head, that sticks admirably to the glass. Nose has barley sugar sweets. Floral, minty hop. Lots of fresh cut oak. Taste is syrupy sweet, with some leafy hop bitterness. Soft carbonation, verging on flat and dull. A touch boozy. Finishes syrupy sweet and light bitter. Ok at best.
