These are / will be beers matured on new Bulgarian oak barrels.
This type of wood has characteristics of both American oak and French oak; beautiful vanilla keys paired with spicy oak keys.
Through maturing these beers for six months in these casks, they get incredibly beautiful wood / vanilla flavors.
The practice will learn us which beers will eventually come in the ‘pure oak series’; We already know that above all blond beers come into their own with this kind of barrel aging.

Backlog, shared by Pilsnertest. Clear orange with white head. Crisp hay, oak, wheat, herbs. A bit of menthol character to it. Quite easy and elegant.

At Beerlovers Bar in Antwerp. The oak aged edition of this three-grains tripel, the basic beer being among the classics of Dochter van de Korenaar’s range. Textbook cobweb-lacing, off-white, medium thick head over a hazy peach blonde beer. Aroma reveals oxidation right away, with a strange mix of spiced chicken, rust and mozzarella, goat cheese even, shortbread, old apples, light vanilla-ish oak, pineapple, dough. Fruity onset, apple and unripe peach, vague banana hint, medium carbo, supple mouthfeel, cereally middle, bit doughy, bready and soapy due to the wheat with a spicy, soggy rye bread presence that matches well with the woody accent in the finish, providing nicely drying tannins; spicy hops and warming gin-like alcohol make for an elegant ending. Fascinating, but strangely oxidized and not entirely my personal cup of tea, I must admit.

Pours amber with moderate head. Aromas and flavors of sour creamy wheat, green spicy and buttery oak, and dull fruit with a toasty malt backing. Slick, creamy and smooth. Always impressive.

On tap at Craft Room. Lovely apricot/peachy orange body, murky, with a small thick white head. Creamy spicy aroma, slightly tart, with obvious oak barrel notes. Smooth, soft, creamy maltiness carrying grape-like notes and oak, along with vague tartness, some alcohol pops up here and there. Light cherry-like tartness really. The tannins show up in the finish, making things a bit dry/astringent, but not too much. It’s definitely a well made, pleasant experimental beer.

On tap at Craft Room, Opatovina, Zagreb. Murky golden, small off-white head. Vegetable sauce, mustard sauce aroma, something tart. Yeasty, spicy, sweet with some fruity wine-like flavors. Also, complex, some caramel, barrel behind the tartness, light peat maybe. Medium body, quite thick, finish is lasting, sweet, dry figs, very soothing with alcohol presence.

Helder donkergeel bier met schuim. Smaak is krachtig bitter hoppig en licht fris zoetzuur met iets van bessen en bramen. Mooie smaak balans.
