Spiced Double Ale with fig paste, orange peels, ginger root, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves

Swedish flags are a fairly common sight in our part of the country. Holiday parties often have warm concoctions of spices and booze at the ready to knock the ice off of toes while raising spirits. We were inspired by a “Glögg” party, deciding on the spot to brew a beer that pays tribute to this Nordic tradition.

2XMAS ale combines traditional brewing ingredients with figs, orange peels, cardamom, cinnamon, clove and ginger root. It’s a holiday addition to the 2X line and another reason to toast to the season, but unlike Glögg, we recommend serving this one chilled.

Pour is a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma is loads of ginger with some other holiday spices. Flavor is more spice with a little star anise and ginger. Mouthfeel is very heavy and there is a dark candi sugar left on the tongue after this goes down. Decent spiced winter beer but way heavy though.

Not a fan of spiced holiday beers. Sweet alarming aroma. Orangish. Starts off better thn expected than it morphs into a volatile warm throat sensation. On finish it settles down a tad. Little co2 and somewhat mouth coating. Did not appreciate the high alky content.

Aroma of pine forest, color is ruby with thin beige head. Somewhat soapy taste, piney notes, but above not readily apparent. Interesting take on a holiday beer.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered glowing ruby red body. Thin beige head. Very forward with the spicing, has a nice fruitcake thing going on, cinnamon in the aftertaste. Smooth and clean on the palate, this is a pretty nice Winter Warmer. Gloggy I suppose. Easy drinking for the ABV. Pretty good.

Rcvd in trade.
The appearance has a red/amber colored body with a thin white foamy head that must die within thirty seconds
The smell has strong nutmeg and cinnamon with some added other \"Christmas spices.\"
The taste well, its actually slightly spicy through the nutmeg and cinnamon with a dry spicy aftertaste and finish.
The palate has a light to medium sort of body with a decent bitter harshness trying to pound the tongue but ends up settling into the carbonation which comes across slightly smooth.
Overall, I say this is a pretty good \"Christmas\" ale that I would have again.

bottle - Pours clear amber with a rich fruity, spicy, malty aroma. The flavor is sweet with some alcohol, dark fruit, oranges, and plenty of spice including cinnamon and nutmeg. Good beer.

Bottle: Poured a murky brown with an off white to tan head. Aroma is spicy and herbal. Taste is a mess of herbal cough medicine, sweet malts, and evergreen tree finish.

On tap at the Perimeter Taco Mac (War Eagle!!). Pours a bubbly and relatively clear brown with a small, tan head. The aroma is immediately gin (this is a first, but that was the impression I got! Spruce and juniper, with some booze. It actually kinda works with the Christmas theme.) There are some notes of nutmeg (eggnog, perhaps?), caramel, and black bread. Sweet flavor, with some intense spiciness. Medium to heavy body, with a lot of savory spiciness. This is an incredibly unique beer, although it takes some time to get used to.

Xmas in July, so very appropriately Xmas beer. Dark Brown, Rather Small Head, Leaves Some Lacing. Clove, Spice Aroma. Tastes sweet, Fig, Raisins. Clove, Caramel, Malt. Reminds me of Goose Island Christmas Ale. Real Nice. Recommended.
