This dark and boozy beer may not look like your typical lager, and it may have deep, rich, malty complexity unlike your typical lager, but that’s because this is not your typical lager people. This sinister and mysterious beer has been given the name Velnias after the ancient Baltic god of the underworld, of lament, and of gardening of course. (Seriously we didn’t make that up).

Can to English pub glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a two finger off white foamy head, subtle sliding lace
Aroma: deep rich chocolate malts, coffee bean smoothness, subtle vanilla and dark toast
Flavor: deep rich sweet tones of prior noted aromas, bitterness far down in there
Texture: medium bodied with a lot of smooth and semi-creamy tones, finishes clean with the dark toast and chocolate malts
Overall: I'd say a very nicely done Baltic porter more than worthy beer to have again.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet molasses, espresso and chocolate aromas. Dry with sweet milk chocolate, hot dark molasses, toasted pumpernickel and espresso front to back. Lasting dusty chocolate finish.
