Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale at its foundation has a nutty profile with a round mouth feel. Added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.
Originating in 17th century England, Brown Ales were held most dear in Northern England after WWII. The Brown Ale influence could also be seen in some early American Colonial brewing. Malty nut flavors tend to be more prevalent in the Northern English style, whereas direct malty sweetness tends to lead in the southern English versions.
Inspiration behind artwork: Eccentric, wild, bold, everything that a chocolate beer should be.

Dated born on date \"December 2014.\"
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking black color with a thin layer of white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds and left no lacing.
The smell was awesome as it really lived up to its name, luscious milk chocolate woven between some vanilla and escaping through slight roasty coffee tones. Big wow!
The taste seemed more tame and didn’t have as much vanilla and roast. I have to admit that there was something developing that seemed slightly acidic in the flavor. Still, a little bit of milk chocolate leads the charge into the aftertaste. There was no finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. The carbonation was pretty tame but that probably had to do with its age.
Overall, the smell has everything going for it however at the same time, I probably had this at the end of its shelf life. Still, I’d try a fresh bottle if I could find it.

Sample at Kurtkeller 019: Choco-tastic 02 on 12/27/2014. Dark brown pour with a medium thin tan head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of chocolate syrup, sweet malt and a touch of coffee. The finish is sweet with a chocolatey aftertaste. Decent overall.

bottle - pours very dark brown and smells of chocolate and roast malt. It tastes sweet with very forward chocolate flavor. The underlying stout body is pretty light. I’d have preferred a bigger flavor and body there. It’s alright though.
