Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale at its foundation has a nutty profile with a round mouth feel. Added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.
Originating in 17th century England, Brown Ales were held most dear in Northern England after WWII. The Brown Ale influence could also be seen in some early American Colonial brewing. Malty nut flavors tend to be more prevalent in the Northern English style, whereas direct malty sweetness tends to lead in the southern English versions.
Inspiration behind artwork: Eccentric, wild, bold, everything that a chocolate beer should be.

Bottle. Deep, dark in color. If your a chocolate lover, you would love this beer. Aroma is heavily roasted grains and chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate without much sweetness.

12 oz bottle, poured clear brown with an excuse for a tan head. Light to medium body, chalky mouthfeel. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Cocoa dominates the taste, with malt and mild spice. Finish is cloyingly sweet. Meh.

12 ounce bottle. Translucent reddish brown color. Large pillowy light tan head. Sweet toasted malt aroma is redolent of milk chocolate. Slightly sweet cocoa flavor upfront. Roasted malt, cashews, toasted bread and chocolate wafers follow. Spicy notes in middle. Sticky malt finish. Medium bodied, yet only average complexity.

Nice pour, but the texture is surprisingly thin, in dire need of some thickness and more carbonation. Smells like a big glass o’ chocolate, though, which is a plus. Taste...needs help, artificial cocoa flavor on top of a yeasty English brown ale, not sweet but false, with a really unpleasant tartness on the back end. Not good.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a light beige head. Very chocolatey aroma. Taste is dark chocolate, dark malts, nuts, vanilla notes, sugary. Very sweet and chocolatey. Almost like chocolate milk or a chocolate shake - well, a very thin chocolate shake. Probably the most chocolatey beer I’ve had, but overall, it’s too sweet and sugary.
