Amra, Sanskrit for mango, begins with a very pale West Coast-style IPA devoid of caramel malt character to allow the fruity aromas and flavors of Simcoe & Glacier hops to take center stage and meld perfectly with unreasonable amounts of mangos added to this fruit beer with attitude.

Keg at Gilt Bar in Chicago. Pours mostly clear gold with a foamy, white head. Good stuff, nice juicy citrus, pale bread. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Low bitterness. More fairly fresh, juicy mango in the finish, more citrusy hops, bready sweetness. Nice one.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell. Hazy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal hops, mango and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Poured up on tap at the Brass Tap in Mesa, AZ where it exhibits a slightly hazy deep gold glowing body that supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up citrus hop like notes, a dash of earthy mango skin and earthy salty celery. The taste . . . whoa, is that peppered celery dusted with brown sugar? It also gets into a cracker note blended with bitter grapefruit and sugary malts. What the hell is going on here. I don’t get it. Odd.

On tap at Stanleys. Pours a hazy gold orange with medium creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is citrus, mango, pine, earth. Medium mouth, bitter hop bite, light mango, pine, grass, lingering bitter finish, really good.

Draft pour at The Collective. Couple weeks back, rating from my notes. Pours a lighter golden color with a sweet citrus aroma. Bitter and malty up front with a quick transition to sweet mango flavor. Overall, a pretty decent beer.
