Cold Press Coffee Pumking

12 oz bottle. Like the base beer, this one poured a transparent orange color with a small white head. Aroma was buttery pumpkin pie, spice and a bunch of cold brewed coffee. No harsh coffee here, but unfortunately perhaps not strong enough to really hit it out of the park. This one was just okay.

So when you find a beer you don't like, what do you do? You buy a bottle from Wine Warehouse of a variant of that beer. Pours mostly clear orange with a small head. Aroma is gourd, light spice, light coffee. Flavor is heavy cinnamon and nutmeg, a little gourd, some coffee. You know, this isn't bad, and from what I remember better than the original. Finishes bitter on the back end.

Lesson one in how to take a great beer and turn it into a mediocre beer. +++ Sampled on draft at the Pittsburgh brewpub this beer poured a dark copper color with a huge foamy orange-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was brewed coffee, dust, cinnamon and clove. The flavor was brewed coffee, clove cinnamon, a bit of and had some toasted caramel. Very long finish. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.

On draft at Ice Cold Beer Here 2 in Milford. The pour is the same as regular Pumking. Burnt orange with an off white head. The aroma has heavy pumpkin pie spices with some coffee. The flavor follows suit with a lower coffee flavor than I expected. The spices still seem to dominate. Actually, the coffee seems to muddle things even more. Oh well... a little bit of a disappointment, but it was a fun beer to try.
