Sample at the Biltmore Village taproom. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that recedes quickly to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Roast malt, chocolate and mild coffee in the nose. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted malt, semi-sweet chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Brewvival 2015 Trip #15. Keg at the Asheville location. Pours near black with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. The taste is chocolate, roasted malt, herbal and piney hops. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Location: Draft at the brewery, Asheville, 1/1/15

Aroma: It has a fairly malty heavy aroma, with roasted and dark malts leading the way
Appearance: This beer has a mostly black poor with a brown head and fairly minimal lace
Flavor: The flavor is more dry then sweet, roasted malts, and a dry finish for the style
Palate: This one has a pretty smooth mouthfeel and a medium body
Overall Impression: I was fairly impressed by this one. I liked the drier for the style flavor that comes out here, and I enjoyed this beer as a whole.
