A new spin on the classic tart Berliner weisse. Fruit Fly is a kettle-soured, quaffable ale brewed with tropical passionfruit and fruity Citra hops.

Draught at Ocho on 8/17/16.
Peachy orange-golden body shows light to moderate haze and a small, off-white head atop with modest retention for the style.
Certainly smells like passion fruit in the nose, which isn’t all that aromatic, and lends quite a bit of earthy, lightly acidic, almost plum-like notes, alongside light lactic acid and soft, modest honey-like malts. Some hints of vanilla and a grassy, lightly vegetal character, as well. Pretty straightforward kettle sour it seems, with authentic, well-done passion fruit, but not much more to report than that and some modest lactic acids, really.
Lightly sweet, with a slick, lightly carbonated texture. Modest acidity is tart at best, with fruity, earthy and tannic character from the passion fruit on top of light honey-like malt notes. The carbonation is fairly tight, leading to a crisp, bright finish with help from the lactic tartness. Drinkable, if rather unremarkable.

On Tap at BitterCreek Alehouse, Boise Murky pale yellow with a lingering white head and web like lacing. Fait sweet aroma of fleshy pale fruits. Small tame sourness and plenty of the passion fruit flavors. Not so interesting.

On tap at P&P Charleston. Hazy pale yellow with small white head. Aroma is passion fruit, light body, medium carbonation, and pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is funky, passion fruit, and tart.
